To be
considered for representation we ask that you follow the guidelines
outlined below. *If you've been scouted or referred, please include the name
of the person, company, or association on your materials for
priority attention.
GETTING
STARTED:
To
answer one of the most frequently asked questions first: SEND NO
MONEY! Reputable companies earn commission
ONLY after talent is paid for
a booking. Gemstone is a reputable company. We invest a lot of
time, effort and resources
into each talent which is why we have
to select only the very best. It is a
competitive business and
our actors work. Companies requiring advance fees,
mandatory use of their photographer and training are illegal
scam operations.
Run and don't look back!
ALL
AGES PHOTOS/DEMO REELS: Feel free to email appropriate photos, demo reels & links:

ADULTS
(Age 18 and up)
All adult talent is required to submit a video demo reel. (Pro or
amateur video is
fine.) It should feature YOU performing your
individual talent, i.e. actors: a
monologue, comedians: stand-up,
etc. For those without a reel, this is your
opportunity
to audition for us using as many "takes" as you need,
choosing
your BEST for your video. You'll need to first prepare
material
(see
COMMERCIALS
and THEATRICAL
below) then
begin your tape by
clearly stating your name, age and
contact information (aka "SLATING.") We accept VHS,
DVD AND MAJOR COMPUTER FORMAT (Quick Time, Windows Media,
etc.)
COMMERCIALS: Tape 1-2
commercials in your best style. You can find
commercial copy
on-line or simply copy one from TV or a magazine. Or write
one of
your own! It's easy. Please add any
other talents you have - singing,
dancing, stunts, juggling, gymnastic, accents, characters - whatever. Show off!
THEATRICAL: Select and perform a brief
monologue that highlights your
acting range and
personality. There are many monologue books available at book
stores and on-line. Find one that suits you. You may even
write your own monologue.
COMEDIANS, HOSTS, MODELS,
WRITERS,
etc.: Please send us
the best samples of your work.
Keep it under 3-5 min. Be sure to include your
resume and clearly label
all CD's, DVD's, photos with your contact information.
RESUME: Please list any credits,
training, special skills, etc. Classes,
local theater, school
plays, public performances are a great way to start.
Hosting/monologues/dancing/gymnastics--anything
that requires performing
for an audience is considered a resume
item. Please keep it to one page.
RESOURCE PAGE if you'd like help
and to view teachers/classes that
can provide you guidance. Tell
them Gemstone Talent sent you. (There
is no obligation.)
Then, put it on your resume! It can only help. We
recommend all
actors receive some form of training to keep you fresh
and hone
your craft. If we think you "have it" based on your
materials,
you will be contacted to schedule a "meet &
greet." back to top
MINORS
(Ages 4-17)
Any child who is
outgoing, makes friends easily, is willing to go to other
adults and has a
parent available for transportation to auditions
is a potential
candidate for the entertainment business.
Kids who love to perform often earn
college tuition by appearing
in commercials and more, while others
become movie and TV stars
and everything in between! We truly enjoy
introducing kids and their families to exciting
opportunities for
those born to perform!
PARENTS please keep in mind that
show business is a BUSINESS,
so it's important to
listen to your child and insure the choice to perform
is
his/hers. Biz kids often work very hard creating characters,
attending auditions juggling "real" life w/"reel" life. It
can be a dream come true for the true performer or an effort
in futility
for the child who doesn't truly want to be
there.
Industry people can
recognize both easily, so please enter
carefully with the needs
of your CHILD
always remaining FIRST.
ALL YOUNG ACTORS, except babies 0-3
(see
BABIES
& TODDLERS
below), are
required to submit a short video demo of themselves. The video
should
include an honest representation of your child
following the guidelines below:
FOR VERY YOUNG CHILDREN,
please keep your video FUN and real:
"playtime." Simply start by having your young
actor clearly state name and
age (aka "SLATING"). Begin an
improvised chat to bring out your child's
natural personality. Ask them to tell you about their "favorites." Keep it
simple and
real. Let the kids do the talking. You may then
ask your child
to imitate his favorite character or commercial,
sing a song, whatever.
Keep it relaxed. The goal is to get your
child to show off a little and
HAVE FUN. Parents please resist
overloading your child. You can do a
little at a
time. If your young child is able to memorize a short
commercial
or repeat a famous commercial line then add that
too. We are looking
for naturally outgoing, gregarious kids
who love to take on characters
and who genuinely enjoy being
creative. You know the type,
exceptionally bright, have an imaginary friend, love to dress up, take
direction well and enjoy pretending to be different characters.
OLDER KIDS AND TEENS
COMMERCIALS: Tape 1-2 commercials in your best
style. You can
find commercial copy on-line or simply copy one
from TV or a magazine.
Even write one of your own! It's
easy. Feel free to add any other
commercial talents you
may have - singing, dancing, stunts, juggling,
accents, characters, burping - whatever. Show off!
THEATRICAL: Select and perform a brief
monologue that highlights your acting range & personality.
There are many monologue books for kids/teens
available at book
stores and on-line. Find one that suits you.
You may even write
your own monologue.
YOUNG COMEDIANS, MODELS, SINGERS,
MUSICIANS, GYMNASTS, BMX'RS.
etc.: best samples of
your work. Keep it under 3-5 min.

your materials, you will be contacted to
schedule a "meet &
greet." For additional help, visit our

Did you know babies can work in Movies, TV and Commercials at only 15 days
old?
And the right identicals are given special opportunities in "the
